No Sunday Golf in Hamilton
A. AND P. ASSOCIATION REBUSES PERMISSION Per Press Association. HAMILTON, Last Night. The ethics of Sunday play was again brought into the limelight at Hamilton to-day when a spirited discussion followed a proposal to the Waikato Agricultural and Pastoral Association to permit Sunday golf to be played on their grounds at Claudelands. Tho Atinisters' Association in a letter to the A. and P. Association asked that such steps be taken to prevent the wounding of the religious susceptibilities and convictions of nearby residents. It registered a strong protest against tho proposal oil account of the close proximity of several churches and the fact that the showgrounds were in a residential area. Varied views were expressed by members and it was finally decided by lb votes to nine to grant permission to the club to use the grounds providing no Sunday play was indulged in.
