Tokomaru
From Our Own Correspondent. Something new to Tokomdru people was Introduced last Thursday night when a gipsy dance was held under the auspices of the Women’s Institute. As is usual with institute functions, there was a good attendance and music for dancing was supplied by Mrs. R. Atkinson, Miss D. Webb and Messrs J. Knyvett and H. Parr. Mrs.'L. Jamieson, the secretary of the Women’s Institute, made a very capable M.C. A novelty supper in the shape of saveloys, was another new feature. Many dancers were also highly delighted with some the the things fold them by an Institute lady who very ably “read” their cups. Among those present were Mesdames J. Anderson, Redshaw, L. Simpson, 11. Parr, J. Schwass, Kars,
N. Gunning, S. ' Lloyd, L. Cheer, L. Jamieson, H. Morgan, F. Gyde, R. Atkinson, A. Burt, A. Boote, Misses A. Anderson, V. Voss, J. Boote, D. Fowler, V. Corlett, K. Williams, N. Ennis, V. Guy, G. Guy, M. Clapham, M. Schwass, J. Rankin, C. Jamieson, N. Osman, Burge (Hastings) and others. During the evening, two solos were rendered by Miss K. Williams, who played her own accompaniment at the piano. Miss Williams’ songs were "Meadow Sweet” and “To a Miniature.” The friends of Mrs. C. Osman will be pleased to learn that she has now returned home from hospital. Mrs. H. Gibbs, of Otaki, was a visitor to her mother, Mrs. W. H. Parr, during the week-end. Mrs. R. Easton, of Foxton, is spending a few days with her daughter, Mrs. A. Webb. Mr. and Mrs. R. McNeil, of Mangaweka, were visitors on their way through to Levin.
