From Our Own Correspondent. A successful evening was given by Mr. and Mrs. R. Tanner in the interests of the Farmers’ Carnival Queen on Wednesday night. The music was supplied by Mr. F. Caple, while an extra was played by Mr. C. Srlrriffs. Mr. W. G. Black, of the central executive, thanked Mr. and Mrs. Tanner for the pleasant evening and introduced Miss Russell, who was received with applause. Miss Russell wore a gown of ivory crinkled crepe with cape. Mr. A. Buchanan also thanked Mr. and Mrs. Tanner on behalf of the guests. The Monte Carlo waltz was won by Miss N. Mayhew and Mr. I. Fraser. Mr. M. Williamson capably carried out the duties of M.C. Competitions were won as follow:—Box of choco-

latos, Mr. Christmas, who returned the box to be auctioned: ride in aeroplane, Mrs. R. D, Knight, who also won a cash order ticket at Collinson and Cunning* hame’s, which was donated by Mr. T. Simpson. A euchre and dance evening was held In aid of the Anglican Church on Friday night. There was a good attendance and an enjoyable evening was spent by all present. The duties of M.C. were carried out to perfection by .Mr. G. Syversen. The Monte Carlo waltz was won by Miss J. Foss and Mr. R. Learmontli. A competition was won by Miss T. Lemberg. The euchre prizes were won by Mrs. Larson and Mr. T. Holland, while the consolation prizes went to Mrs. Day and Mr. C. Palmer.
