Baptist Sunday School

ANNIVERSARY SERVICES HELD The Baptist Church cclobrated its Sunday School Anniversary on Sunday, when special sorvices were- held to mark the ovent. The special preacher for the day was tho Rev. E. N. Goring, of Wellington, president of the Central Auxiliary of the Baptist Union. Morning and afternoon addresses were particularly for the children. In the morning Mr Goring spoko on the importance and usefulness of those in humble life, while in the afternoon the children were entertained in a big heart, in which certain animals, representing various vices, were found, but which disappeared when Christ was allowed to enter. At night tho preacher addressed the adults on King David’s lament for Absalom (2 Samuel 18:3233). The sermon was a homely but forceful plea for the institution of a sincere, natural, unforced, homo religion. It would bo well with the young, the speaker said, when the parents recognised truly that life did no}, consist in merely material things.

A feature of all services was the splendid singing by tho choir and scholars under the baton of Mr W. G. Wilby. The opinion was expressed by many that the singing had reached the highest standard in many years.
