Baton Charges for Jerusalem Rioters
TWO MEN KILLED .United Press Association— by Electric Telegraph —Copyright. JERUSALEM, Oct. 23. Baton charges dispersed a fresh attempt to penetrate tho police cordon. Tho Tioters' home-made bombs exploded harmlessly. Stones were thrown and sticks used, compelling tho British n.c.o. to order his men to fire a few shots. Two rioters were killed and lo taken to hospital. Veiled women, screaming from the housetops, incited the mob. The whole city was filled with excited Arabs eager to demonstrate. They compelled Jewish shops to close m the main street, smashed one Jewish establishment, and compelled one Bntis phop to put up its shutters. Members of the Arab executive were arrested. Others protested about the police firing at Jaffa, and demanded the release of leaders, and decided to protest to Arab kinds and tho League of Nations. Arab Shopkeepers and motor-bus owners continue to strike. The flight of aeroplanes parked at Cairo in readiness for emergency so far has not been required. The po ice •fully control the situation. The curlew is effective at nightfall. The Jaila troublo has apparently been quelled. All Arab papers have been suspended at Damascus. Gravest Eventualities military preparing LONDON, Oct. 29.
