Pan-Pacific Conference
At a meeting of the Pan-Pacific Women’s Association Committee held in Wellington recently, Mrs T. E. Taylor, who presided, spoke of the progress that had been made since the last meeting. This progress had been in the direction of consolidating and building up tho New Zealand branch of the association through the interest created in tho various national and local groups of organised women and in individual members of these groups who had entered upon some special study or were otherwise personally interested in their aims. The ~usabilities of research work bad also become more apparent for the next conference. This work, she said, was an absolute necessity if delegates were to bo equipped for round-tabic discussions, and an adequate appreciation of forum papers and addresses during the conference, which has, so far, been fixed to take place in August next year. Research studies, working, always and consciously toward a coordination of women’s highest welfare in all countries of the Pacific, formed a background for work of a definite character, and the value was enhanced by the powerful influence in international understanding and eo-operation, without which dll efforts for peace and disarmament scented doomed to failure.
