Fashions for Men
The managing director of a wellknown house in Savile Bow gives the following advance tips on fashions in London for men this autumn. The double-breaster is still very much' in, but with a narrower lapel, and a slight, rather high waist. Young men who wish to be different, however, are wearing a squarish cut of single-breasted jacket, with three buttons. Wide trousers are to remain, in spite of the tailors’ dislike of them; but the question of the overcoat has still to bo decided. Browns are going out and blue-grey worsted is one of the newest fashions. Savile Bow has done good American business this summer. Though they can no longer afford to order half a dozen suits at a time, many United States visitors have bought three during their stay in London. On the Riviera many of the smartest women are wearing little white linen jackets like those affected by most bar-tenders. Berets are made of real, horsehair, and gloves and shoes of frog-skin, black lizard and pelican skin. Necklaces are growing longer again; one woman affects one of carved ivory beads that reaches to the hem of her skirt!
