From Our Own Correspondent. Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Matheson have been visiting their son and family, Mr. and Mrs. .T. Matheson. Mr. R. F. Evans suffered a painful accident last week. While chopping he badly injured his eye. However, he hopes to be able to be about again shortly. Mr. Toucher, of Carterton, was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Gustofsen for the week-end. Mrs. C. Richardson spent the week-end in Eketahuna. Miss L. Gustofsen is leaving for Pongaroa to-day to spend a vacation with Mrs. B. Udy. Mr. H. Sellers (Wellington) and Mr. T. Baines (Feilding) were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Schnell for Labour Day weekend. Miss F. Hall, of Takapau, is at present visiting her aunt, Mrs. E. Evans, Pleclcville. The local factory manager, Mr. J. Barnes, journeyed by car to Wellington one day last week to see the grading operations. He was accompanied by Mr. Schnell and Mr. J. Matheson. The local footballers, to show then; appreciation of the assistance rendered by Mr. and Mrs. J. MacGlashan to their team, entertained them at a surprise evening last week. There were approximately 15 in tho party and a very sociable evening resulted. Mr. L. Eagle, president of the club, presented Mrs. MacGlashan with a salad set. Mr. J. MacGlashan suitably responded. Cricket Notes. Owing to the rough weather the newly formed Cricket Club was unable to bold its opening match on Labour Day. The dance, however, held on Labour night proved quite a success, local and other districts being well represented. The M.’sC., Mr. O. Evans and Mr. J. Davenport, kept tilings moving gaily. Tickets on a cake which is to be raffled later were collected, the funds to go to the Sunday school. There was a light frost on Tuesday morning, breaking the weather after several days of southerly wind and rain.
