Beware of the man who is'as "cool as a cucumber.” Often he is as slippery as a sliced one. A retired Wellington business man not long since returned to the windy City after a world's tour, was referring in the smoke-room of his hotel recently to somo of his experiences. He said that during his travels he had made it bis business as an old smoker to sample as many brands of tobacco as he could, “and I suppose I shall bo within tho mark,” he added, “when I say that I have, tried out fifty or sixty different kinds while cn route. Not one of them was equal in iny opinion, to tbo New Zealand toasted tobacco. For flavour, and fragrance, and above all for its comparative freedom from nicotine—due, as they, toll me to it being toasted —this tobacco stands alone. It is unique. Many a pipeful did I give away during my trip, and everybody liked it.” Tiio toasting process referred to by this gentleman—an elaborate ono enough—renders the tobacco so treated perfectly harmless. As most smokers know there arc four brands: Navy Cut No. 3 (Bulldog), Cavendish, Riverhead
