Feilding Agricultural High School

ANNUAL SPORTS MEETING

HELD IN PERFECT WEATHER

An ideal day marked the tenth annual athletic sports meeting ol ! pupils of the Feilding Agricultural High School, held yesterday, and the school is to be congratulated upon the greater interest displayed in the fixture by parents and supporters of the school. In the past the weather has never been really favourable for the gathering, but yesterday the sun smiled over the grounds, bringing joy to the hearts of all taking part in the proceedings. There'was a very good gathering of interested spectators, whose attention was held throughout by an outertaining programme of splendidly organised sports. It was quite the best gathering yet. The principal, Mr L. J. Wild, took a live interest in the several events, the management of which was in the hands of members of the stall assisted by pupils representing the several “houses.” Mrs Wild was an interested spectator along with a large gallery of ladies. The visitors included Mr O. V. Wild, a former member of the staff, and now inspector of secondarv schools.

Several new records were established, the most outstanding being the performance of To Pungama, in the mile senior championship, which he annexed in the school record time of 4in in 53 3-sscc. The previous record time for this event was smin 0 2-ssec, established by I\. S. Mair in 1930. Te Punga’s performance was greeted with enthusiastic applause.
