Federal Government In the Balance
TROUBLE OVER A PENSION BILL. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. SYDNEY, Oct. 13. Tho Morning Herald *s Canberra correspondent eays that a serious situation has developed in the Pederal Parliament.
-It was learned that the Country Party intended to insist upon an amendment of tho Bill to give further concessions to old ago pensioners, and that it would receive support not only from the Federal Labour Party and the Beasley Group, but from the Government’s own supporters, who were prepared to vote against the Ministry unless some compromise were effected. This is likely; but the Government regards the matter as vital, and, if defeated, would seek a dissolution.
