PERSONALITIES
The appointment of Captain Cosmo Graham, R.N. (H.M.S. Diomede), to be lion, aide-de-camp to his Excellency the Governor-General, has been gazetted.
Guests at the Hotel Imperial include Mr W. F. Evans (Christchurch), Mr Hotchin (Wellington), Miss McDermott (Wellington), Mr and Mrs Tidswell (Christchurch), Mr P. Gass (Wairoa), Mr R, Hill (Wairoa). Mr Russell Robinson, a young New Zealander, who has been living in New York with his parents, has joined RearAdmiral Byrd’s Antarctic expedition, and has signed on the Bear as a mechanic. Mr Robinson is 22 years of age, and was born at Stratford, bnf was taken by his parents first to Australia and then to the United States, where his father, Mr E. H. Robinson, is iu business as an export purchasing agent, reports the Now Zealand Herald. He is a capable draughtsman, and has completed a four-year course at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in designing and building aeroplanes, securing a first-class diploma. No opening offering for his talents, lie has joined the expedition for the adventure and experience, and is now coming south in the Bear.
