ECONOMICAL GINGER SPONGE SANDWICH One tablespoon butter, one tablespoon dripping, quarter cup of sugar, - one egg, 4oz of golden syrup, soz of milk, li cups of flour, ono teaspoon ginger, one teaspoon cinnamon, one teaspoon baking powder, one teaspoon soda, quarter eup boiling water. Beat dripping, butter, and sugar to a cream, add egg and beat well. Then add golden syrup melted, milk, flour, cinnamon, ginger, and baking ' powder, lastly add soda dissolved in boiling water. This cake is very moist when mixed. Bake in sandwich tins in a moderate oven, and put together with jam or icing. It is very economical, and makes quite a big cake.
