Board of Directors of Y.W.C.A. Meet Together
A special meeting of tho board of directors and girls’ work committee of tho Palmerston North Y.W.C.A. was held in the hostel yesterday. Present: Miss McLagan (chair), Mesdames Bierre, Watcliorn, Craig, Oliver, Barnett, Griggs, Mouldey, Sinclair, .Bowntree, Aitchison, Phillips, Small, and Misses Forrest, Cameron, Kelsey,. and the general secretary, Miss Ashton. Apologies were received from Mesdames Eutherfurd, Pointon and Miss Scotter.
The devotional opening was taken by Miss Ashton. Tho genefal secretary, on behalf of the board, welcomed Miss McLagan to tho presidential chair, voicing the hope that she would be happy in her new position. Miss McLagan in reply expressed her thanks and her pleasure at being once more associated with the Y.W.C.A.
The mooting had been convened principally to receive and discuss the material from tho National Board meeting, which had been held in Wellington recently. Miss Ashton gave a comprehensive report of all that had happened and of the principal things that had been discussdd at this board meeting, and gave a resume of the two very fine addresses given by Miss • Niven, the world’s general secretary, who had been a guOst of honour at the meeting. Miss Ashton also reported on the secretarial conference which had been hold at Plimmorton with Miss Niven in charge, and of tho inspiration that had been gained by all from contact with her.
