Mrs Trevor Beotham, Masterton, was tho guest of Mr and Mrs J. C. Bolton at Woodvillo last night. The announcement that Miss Hazol Winter, who was born blind, has takon firsts in history at Oxford, recalls the onormous obstacles which Miss Helen Ivellor overcame having been born both deaf and blind. She can write in three languages and has written numerous books, but her most amazing achievement is that she has now learned to speak. It is said that she speaks with out using any colloquialisms. In conversation she touched tho hand or arm of the person to whom she is talking so that she can feel their “vibrations.”
