Wool Prices Up 30 Per Cent
Sydney Sales Open With Animated Tone
EXCELLENT CLEARANCE UNDER HAMMER

At tho wool sales 10,330 bales were offered and 10,099 sold, in addition to 4117 which were disposed of privately. The market opened with strong and sustained competition, from all sections.
As compared with the closing sales of June, the market showed an advance of 30 per cent., whilst compared with the opening rates last season the prices showed a rise of about 45 per cent.
Excellent clearances 'were effected. Greasy Merino sold to 19 id. Somo particularly attractive clips were submitted. Wools from west and north-west Now South Wales were generally much finer than last year, soft handling, but shorter in length, and carried less burr and more dust, duo to the need for rain in those areas. Yorkshire was a very strong competitor, while Franco and Japan bought in excellent volume. Satisfactory Prices at Timaru Crutchings Sale Per Press Association. TIMARU, Last Night. Satisfactory prices, on a par with those obtained at Christchurch last week, ruled at tho wool crutching sale held at Timaru to-day. There was a total offering of SSO bales, for which a full bench of buyers showed keen competition, Most of tho catalogues were cleared. •*
