SOCCER TOUR BY ANTIPODEAN TEAM
Suggestion Emanating From England WOULD VISIT CONTINENT AS WELL Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. Some of the difficulties in the way of arranging a visit by an English soccer team to New Zealand are set out in a lotter from Brigadier-Geucral Madocks, representative iu England of the New Zealand Pootball Council. Reference is made as to the likelihood of a team composed of Australian and New Zealand players touring England and the Continent. The letter, which was read at a meeting of tho New Zealand Football Association to-night, sets out the reasons for the remoteness of an English tour of Australia and New Zealand, which would cost £IO,OOO or more. Inquiries had also been made regarding the possibility of sending out an amateur team, but it had been found that it would not be possible to collect a suitable one. Brigadier-General Madocks said the proposal that an Australian team ■ should visit England had been put forward, and he suggested that tho team should include Now Zealand players. It was wonderful, he said, how the g, juo had taken on in Europe, Austria., Italy, Switzerland, France, Spain, Belgium and Germany. Putting highest class teams in the field, these nations would welcome a tour by Australian and New Zealand players. The New Zealand Council has decided to get in touch with tho Australian authorities with the object of learning their views.
