Tho annual report of tho Foxton Racing Club reads: —It is indeed very pleasing to record a successful year,' even more so in view of the fact .that heavy expenditure was incurred owing to the club having to postpone its January fixture. After allowing £241 16s 6d for depreciation the loss on the year’s working is £l9l Gs lQd, as compared ( with £433 19s Id in 1932. The one day meeting held in June was an unqualified success, so much so'that numerous requests were mado to the committee by owners and.trainers to hold a further meeting . The committee obtained the consent' of the Racing-.. Conference to hold a further meeting on July 29th, and it is pleasing to record that this was a greater success than tho June fixture, and will enable the club to considerably /reduce • its • liabilities. The totalisator handled -the sum of £6339 10s in July,-as compared with £6IIS 10s in June. The committee-wish to place on record a, donation of £lO 10s by the Racecourse Trustees. Nominations have been received for tho following positions: President, : Mr. WV E._ Barber; vico-prcsidents, Messrs B. Bryant, W. T. Jewell, H. 'Oolcy and C. E. Robinson; stewards, Messrs D. R. Ogilvy, S. Austin and H/Robinson. As there are no further nominations an election will not bo necessary. It is with very deep regret that we record the loss by death of Messrs R. A. Edwards, H. C. Patterson and A. H. Wilson. AUSTRALIAN JOCKEY CLUB LESS THROUGH TOTALISATOR SYDNEY, Aug. 16. At the Australian Jockey Club’s annual meeting it was announced that the profit for the past year was £1931, compared with a loss of £G437 in the previous year. While the financial results of the past year wero better by more than £S00(1, the amount passed •through the totalisators at Randwick and Warwick Farm during the: year totaled £642,432, compared with £824,123 in the previous year. The club decided to provide a classic race for two-year-old fillies at future autumn meetings.

EGMONT-WANGANUI HUNT CLUB MEETING TO-DAY

Prospects appear bright for the annual race meeting of the EgmontWanganui Hunt Club, to be held on the Wanganui Jockey Club’s course today, and if the attendance is up to expectations the meeting should bo a very successful one. The fields are of useful dimensions, and provided the defections arc no more numorous than could be expected from tho dual engagements, the racing should prove most interesting. Track Work \ The tracks were in excellent order for trainers on -Thursday. I After the breakfast interval, Midinette covered five furlongs in 1.3, the last four furlongs being clocked at 50sec. The .Limond filly is making satisfactory progress in*her preparation for the spring campaign., Arisu3 anct Midian were together after taking 1.18 .to cover six furlongs, the concluding flvo furlongs took them 1.5.

Pomp and Spiral wero finishing .on nicely at the end of four furlongs, a task which occupied 50sec.

Ganpat had a slight advantage over Hawora at the end of five furlongs, run in' a tick over 1.8.

After Black Man had finished in front of Waitannaha at the end of five furlongs, Tun at a good pace, Waitaunaha covered another circuit at a solid pace. Knollmere wanted to go on with it at'the end of five furlongs, in which he hit ont freely. Rust conceded Icier a break of a couple of lengths and had not mado up the leoway at the end of four furlongs, Icier taking 'SO 3-ssec for the journey. Strong half-pace work was set Great Emblem and No Humbug. ■ During tho morning’s training operations the three-year-old filly Gentility, by Grand Knight from Civility, suffered injuries which necessitated her destruction. She was badly staked in a sudden escapade in which sho landed on the rails near ft gap, the rails breaking. It was an unfortunate loss for the owners, and breeders of the filly, Messrs H. M. Speed and C. G. Russell, who are both stewards of the Wanganui Jockey Club. Review of Prospects There arc half a dozen in tho opening event, the Maiden Hunters ’ Steeplechase, in which Mangatapu, Caro and Sir Glamis appear likely to carry most support. In tho Wereroa Plate, Hawora, Treasure Hunt and Tommy Atkins may bo most favoured. Six are set down for the Wlienuakura Handicap, though it would not be surprising to find at least one defection. Midinette and Knollmere will not be overlooked. The Egmont-Wanganui Hunt Cup field is a fairly useful one, with Acervatc and Invictus making most appeal. Another field of six is engaged for the Waihau Handicap, with Wasteland and Auctioneer likely to be well supported. " Black Man and Count Palatine are the pair most likely to carry most money in the Ladies’ Bracelet. f . For the concluding event, the Wavcrley Hack Handicap, Midian (if started) should do better than Sawora. _ ■ T. -Green is riding Inflation at Wanganui to-day in tho Whenuakura Handicap. ■ - RAGING AT ELLERSLIE The Pakuranga Hunt meeting is being held at Ellerslio to-day, when most interest will bo centred on the Jellicoe Handicap. King March looks good on the' Card’, and with Voitre up will bo most fancied, while Spcedmint and Protomint will have their following. There is not much of a field in the Hunt Cup, in which Nukutere and Winnagan will be most in favour. ■The first race is the Greenmount Hunters’ Steeples, with a field of sevenin which Sir Pathfinder and Ruby Meteor will not lack support. Harris Memorial Hunters’ Hurdles: Sir Pathfinder (if started), London and Glenade.

Sylvia Park Handicap: Grand Score, Hushing, Tavern Knight. Auckland Handicap: Kiltowyn, Mcr ry Lap, Gigantic.

Ladies’ Bracelet: Searcher, Gastronomy, London. Dunedin Handicap: Tavern Knight, Lord Val, Deputy Ruler. Keith Voitre left for Auckland last night and will have the mount on King March in the Jellicoe Handicap today. FINAL GALLOPS AT ELLERSLIE GOOD EFFORT BY KING MARCH Perfect weather prevailed yesterday morning for tho final gallops at Ellerslie, and trainers had the-use of the course proper, on which the poles were 45ft out from the rails. The going was good for this time of the . year, though on the dead side (states the Auckland Star). The Course Proper My Money and Gay Broney were the first out, being sent flvo furlongs.' They ran the first two in 27sec, and completed the gallop in 1.8. They were on terms at the finish, My Money on the outside impressing most. Glenromney was not doing his best at any part of six furlongs, which he completed in 1.25 4-5. He is more solidlooking than he was last season. Mountain Breeze finished in front, of Mahkill, after traversing three _ furlongs in 41 2-ssec, the former shaping well for a novice. Over a similar distance, Love Story registered 42 2-ssec. Supreme Ruler jumped away at tho halfmile post, and, after running his first furlong in 13 l-sscc, completed his task in 51 4-ssec. Chief Emerald assisted him over the- last two and ahalf furlongs, the pair being on terms at the finish. Supremo Ruler worked well. Dark Marble ran his first furlong in 14 l-sscc, and got to the end of half a. mile in 54 4-sscc. He was running on solidly at tho finish. "Wee Pat and the Surveyor—Te Moti gelding were companions over six furlongs. They ran the first three in 40 3-ssec, and tho full distanco in-1.24 3-5. Woo Pat was going the better of the pair at tho end. Patutahi did strong work over a round, which ho covered in 2.29 1-5. He could' have improved on this. Deputy Ruler went away slowly from the six-furlong post, taking 41 l-'ssec for the first threo furlongs, finishing up in 1.22 1-5. Darma assisted him over the last three furlongs, and was in front when the post was reached. Deputy Ruler carried a good weight, and his effort was a satisfactory one, though he may need a race or two before striking his best form. Calionte was given an easy six furlongs, but did not have any pace on till the last three, which she covered in 43soc. This filly is standing up_ to her work. well. King March, Hushing and Gay Cockade were in that order at tho end of six furlongs in 1.21 4-5, tho first three taking 40 2-ssec. King March worked well, though Hushing, who was on the outer and covered a lot of ground, eould have been closer at the finish. Lord Val and Chief Cook were timed to run three furlongs in 39 4-ssec. They were together at the finish, though Lord Val was going well within himself. Kiltowyn began at the six-furlong post from a standing start, and after running his first three furlongs in 40 2-ssec, completco tho gallop in 1.21 2-5. He carried a very light weight, but his performance was very satisfactory. After schooling, Zane Grey was worked over six furlongs with The Highland Chic and Grant's Opal, being a ahado ir( front at the finish in 1.28 2-5. On the No. 3 grass track Sinking Fund was given strong work, traversing his last half-mile In 55 S-ssec. He looks in nice order and was going comfortably at tho end. Others to do useful work were Teremai, Aroka Mai, Manawhenua, Court Haven, Solomon, Jewelled Girdle, Catoma, Aspect, Sir Val, Gay Rose, Irish Song, Sporting Song, King Musk, Gay Marigold, Neil, Eagle’s Pride, Prince Colossus, Very Well, Chief Clerk, Lady Pandora, Barograph, Biform, and Lady Diana. The Jumpers Glenade (R. E. Thomson) was schooled over four hurdles in the centre of the course and gave a dashing display, though he got in rather close to the last obstacle. He afterwards did strong work on the grass. Ironic (Mcllroy), Ruby Meteor (R. E. Thomson) and Zane Grey (H. Dulieu) were schooled over the steeplechase fences. Zane Grey was pulled tip after jumping the stonewall, the other two continuing on over the liill. After jumping tho stonewall at the foot of the hill they were pulled on to the course proper, finishing their task with a sprint down the straight. Ruby Meteor gave a good display and Ironic jumped safely, though ho dwelt a bit at his fences. Zan Grey’s effort was also a pleasing one. SCRATCHING Dorno was scratched for the Greenmount Steeplechase, to be decided at Ellerslio, at eight o’clock yesterday morning.
