Returned Soldiers’ Association

FEILDING ACTIVITIES. The executive of the Feilding branch of the R.S.A, met on Tuesday last, thore being present: Messrs. N. C. Harding (president), T. K. Hay, B. McLeod, H. S. Kichardson, E. Buchanan, A. S. Mureh, J. B. Stewart, W. G. Booth and’ Dr. F. Cameron.

Feeling reference was made to the passing of Mrs. Harrison, wife of Mr. S. J. Harrison, general secretary of the New Zealand Returned Soldier's’ Association, and a motion of sympathy was carried in silence.

In regard to tho Flock House scheme notification was received that a Nelson boy, having completed his training, had been posted to Mr. S. G. Perry, of Feilding. It was decided to write to the lad inviting him to keep in touch with the local branch of the E.S.A.

It was stated that suflicient support was forthcoming from the district local bodies to enable the branch to provide the necessary flnanco for sending another Feilding boy to Flock House for farm training. Steps will be taken at an early date to write applications for the position.

A letter was received from tho Gore branch of the movement extending greetings and generally enquiring as to the activities of tho Feilding branch. The president announced tho receipt of a £lO grant from the Feilding Borough Council towards the relief of out-of-work ex-soldiers. Following a discussion to to tho position generally it was decided to release further moneys to enable extra work to be provided for returned men and that the scheme close definitely on November 30.

Satisfaction was recorded over the success of the recent re-union which was supported by a largo gathering of returned men. In connection with the soldiers’ memorial at St. John’s Anglican Church it was stated that a staunch supporter of returned soldiers, who wished, to remain anonymous, had made a donation to enable tho memorial to be thoroughly cleaned. The thanks of tho meeting were accorded this friend of the association.

Mr. Harding stated that steps were being taken' to see that all graves of returned men in the Feilding cemetery were properly cared for.
