Taonui School Concert
• It is many years since a concert has beon staged in the school, so Wednesday night's function was anticipated with a great deal of interest locally and parents and friends of the children turned up in large numbers, taxing the building to its utmost capacity. Glowing open fires, bowls of spring flowers and paper streamers gave the large room a festive appearance and an impromptu stage erected at one end gave the audionco a good view of even the tiniest of the performers. Commencing promptly at 8 o'clock a most pleasing programme was submitted by the children who one and all acquitted themselves in such a manner as to do credit to their teachers and parents. Near the conclusion of tho programme, Mi. E. McFarland (chairman school committee), in proposing a vote of thanks of the teachers, Miss Curtis and Mrs. Walker, on behalf of parents and friends present for the able manner iu which they had trained tho children and conducted the concert throughout, mentioned the fact that these ladies had brought out undoubted talent iu the children which, until that uiglit, tho parents were unaware they possessed. The motion was carried by hearty acclamation.
At the conclusion of the concert a dainty supper was dispensed, presided oyer "by two committee ladies, Mosdames Cochrane and E. McFarland.
