The first caso of kidnapping for ransom in Bombay was revealed yesterday when tho murdered body of a wealthy Guzerati merchant, Himat Lai, was found on the foreshore. Himat Lai left his office at 9 in the morning. Shortly afterwards a clerk received an ultimatum that unless five thousand rupees were deposited at a certain spot he would be killed. The clerk informed the police, but apparently too lato to prevent the murder.
