Motorists Fined
OARS WITH OLD NUMBER PLATES To- have received their new number plates in time and then get fined for not haying-put them on their cars, was a new experience for several motorists who were .brought before the Palmers-ton-North Magistrate’s Court yesterday. The Magistrate took into consideration tho' fact that registration had been effected in time and ordered defendants to pay costs 10s only Defendants were L. G. Callis, S. E. Cooper, H. S. Curtis, E. J. Fannin, J. G. Fitzgerald, P. Hansen, Miss E. D. Saunders, Mrs. E., S. V. Voss.
Gilbert'Karton and Stanley G. Perry, who used' motors that had not been registered, were each fined. £1 with costs which were 30s in Karton’s caso and 12s in Perry’s case. G. F. Gunson, who was charged with failing, to signal intention to turn to the right- and with having obscured number plates, was fined 10s on each charge with costs totalling 225. Ronald . George Newth admitted driving a lorry at Ashhurst without being the holder-,of a driver’s • license and was fined 5s and costs 3s.
