In Happy Celebration Of a Golden Wedding

A golden wedding of much interest to the Wanganui, Kangitikei and Alanawatu districts was that of Mr. and Airs. James Campion, of “Okirae, ” Foraeii, which was celebrated on Wednesday afternoon at their homestead, when the family and a few old friends assembled in honour of the occasion. The health of the bride and bridogroom was proposed by Air. J. J. Bryce, of Hinau. Mr. E. B. Beckett, of Hinau, proposed the health of. the bridesmaids, all of whom were, present. They were Airs. Duncan Cauneron, of Napier; Airs. N. H. Cane, of Palmerston Nortli; auu Aliss M. AlcDonell, sisters of the bride of 50 years ago. A unique feature was the presence of Airs. Duncan Balmer, of Ashhurst, who played the music at the dance held after the wedding 00 yoars ago. Sho also played at the celebration on Wednesday and delighted her hearers with many old-fashioned tunes, including Scottish dances, which were enjoyod by both the present and past generations.

Among those present were: —Airs. Robert Stevens, of Danncvirkc (sister of tho bridegroom), Mrs. J. J. Bryce, of Hinau (sister of the bridegroom), Airs. F. Bryce (sister of the bridegroom), Airs. S. Beard, Airs. James Macdonald, Miss Jessie Alacdonald, Airs. J. Higgie and son (Wanganui), Mrs. J. Baldwin and daughter (Turakina Valley), Mrs. E. R. Beckett (Hinau), Miss N. E. Brown (Daunovirke), Aliss L. Bailey (Sandon), Air. and Airs. E. H. McDonald and Aliss Alolly AlcDonald (Wanganui), Alis 3D. Poison and Airs. Georgetti (Gisborne), Airs. L. C. Hanna (Dannevirke), Mr. and Airs. Leo Campion, Mr. and Airs. Desmond Campion, Mr. and Airs. Roy Campion, Aliss K. Cullinane, Mrs. Cane (Palmerston North) Misses At. and-C. AlcDonnoll, Aliss C. Balmcr, Aliss K. Culliuane.

Air. and Mrs. Campion have six surviving children, threo sous and three daughters, and there arc about 15 grandchildren. Mr. and Airs. Campion were married at Ivauangaroa, the place being within half a mile of theii present. residence.
