Glycerine for Woollens
If rain-water is not available for washing woollens, flannels and delicate lingerie, add a little glycerine to the water. This not only makes the water soft, but makes the clothes easier to wash. A teaspoonful to each gallon of waiter will be sufficient. When removing stains from materials a little gly cerino may ~ often be used with advantage. Apply to the stained parts with a soft cloth,’ allow to Temain on tho material for a few minutes, then wash in the usual way. If a little glycerine is added to fruit while boiling considerably less sugar will be required. It also' helps to prevent the formation of scum. A tablcspoonful of glycerine to every three pounds of fruit is the right proportion. Glycerine is a safe and effective Telnedy for earache. Pour a little into a hot spoon and drop into the effected ear.
