From Our Own Correspondent. A very enjoyable social was Teld on Manday night, under the auspices of local members of tho Anglican Church. A number of excellent items wero given by local artists, assisted by frionds from. Foxton, and despite the miserable •weather there was a large and enthusiastic audience. The following was the programme Tendered: Pianoforte duet, Mr and Mrs J. B. Bennett; song, Mr Witton; song, Mrs Thomas (Foxton); recitation, Eva Dalgity; humorous dialogue, Messrs Hinds and Harvey (Foxton) ; pianoforte solo, Miss Millard, A.T.'C.L/, L.T.C.L. (Bainesse); song, Mrs B Conlan; recitation, Miss Stephenson (Foxton); song, Mr McPherson (Foxton). Mr Bennett thanked the audience for leaving their wajmi firesides on a wet night, and mentioned that they were saying au Tevoir to the vicar, Mr Young, who is shortly to leave for England, Mr G. Smith, the popular song leader, then toot the stago and community singing was indulged in, Mr Les Afattar, of Foxton, being at the piano. Matter, On Friday evening another of the popular series of dances was held in Mr. Walker’s shed at Aratika. There was an attendance of about sixty and a very pleasant time was spent. The music was supplied by Mr. A. Hyde, of Bunnytliorpe, extras being played by Air. G-. 1\ Burr. A Alonte Carlo dance was won by Afiss N. Shortall and Air. id. Shortall.
