FORMATION OF ASHHURSTPOHANGINA BRANCH
A well attended and representative moeting of residents of tho Ashhurst and Pohangina districts was held last evening under tho auspices of the New Zealand Legion. A number of delegates from the Palmerston North division attended tho meeting and outlined the principles of governmental reform and responsible citizenship for which the Legion stands. Subsequently a number of questions were asked and answered dealing with various aspects of tho Legion’s scope and activities. General approval was expressed of the task to which tho Legion had set its hand and all those present, numbering about 40, enrolled as members, A motion was passed that a branch of tho Legion be formed to be called the Ash-hurst-Pohangina Valley branch, and a committee was elected consisting of Messrs H. W. Smart, W. Howell, J. D. Balmer, White, Arbon, F. B. Grotrian, S. Bailey, C. Kebbell, A. W. Trass, J. Moar, and Rev. H. B. Goortz, the lastnamed being elected chairman and Mr. Arbon secretary.
At tho close of the meeting an expression of thanks to the delegates from Palmerston North who had attended the meeting was passed by acclamation.
