Palmerston North Bowling Club

ANNUAL MEETING PREPARES FOR COMING YEAR

The annual meeting of tho Palmerston North Bowling Club was held last night-, Mr. J. Iv. Patou, tho retiring president, being in the chair until the election of Mr. G. G. Wilson. There was an attendance of 50 members.

In speaking to tho annual report, as already published, the chairman said that little elaboration was needed. After writing off depreciation, tho club could show a profit of £l9, which, considering the largo amount for general maintenance last year, was a very creditable result-.

In accordance with notice, Mr. C. Scliwass moved that the rules of tho club relating to the election of officers be amended to provide that one of the seven members of the general committee should bo the immediate past president.

After discussion, the rules were left as at present.

Tho election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows: President, Mr. G. G. Wilson; vice-presidents, Messrs W. J. Crouchcr and L. T. Brown; general committee, Messrs W. Child, A. Wilson, G. Tremaine, C. Sehwass, N. 11. Nash, J. Iv. Paton and L. Arnott; green superintendent, Mr. R. Ramsay; lion, secretary, Mr. L. T. Brown; lion, treasurer, Mr. A. E. Ivorslake; hon. auditor, Mr. Iv. W. Eglinton; delegates to Manawatu Bowling Centre, Messrs J. Iv. Paton, G. Cr. Wilson and R. Ramsay. Mr. Paton thanked members and officers for the help they had given him during the year, mentioning particularly Messrs Brown and Kcrslake.

Club trophies won during tho past season were presented as follow: Champion singles, Mr. G. G. Wilson; champion pairs, Messrs L. Arnott and W. Child; champion rink, Messrs J. H. Nash, Iv. W. Eglinton, N. 11. Nash and L. T. Brown; handicap singles, Mr. R. Hopwood; handicap pairs, Messrs. L. Lovelock and J. Moehan.

It was decided to revert to tho system of a sole selector, Mr. P. 0. Skoglund bciug appointed. Mrs. W. McKegg was accorded tiic club’s thanks for providing members with supper. The club’s delegates to the centre were instructed to vote for a rinks tournament at the New Year and not a pairs tournament.
