Whilo it is understood tho number of applications on approved lines under tho building subsidy scheme do not rc-leaso as large a sum here for labour as in some other centres, the applications for jobs in Wellington to date show a total estimated cost of £52,562, involving an estimated labour cost of £14,132, the subsidy upon which varies according to the nature of the work. It is stated from tho unemployment bureau that tho jobs will cost from £15,000 odd down to £B. There are two works over £IO,OOO, two of £4OOO, and ono of £2OOO. A number of works in progress, including the National Museum and Art Gallery, aro not included in. the present scheme.
