Defended Civil Claims In Magistrate's Court

TWO PLAINTIFFS SUCCEED. Three defended civil claims were heard by Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., at the Palmerston North Magistrate's Court yesterday. G. Lambeer, of Dannevirke, dealer, proceeded against I. Donaldson, of Ashhurst, farmer, claiming possession of a cow and calf, or alternatively £5 damages. After hearing evidence, his Worship gave judgment for plaintiff for £4 2s Gd, with £3 ISs costs. Mr. Cooper appeared for plaintiff and Mr. Ongley for defendant. F. W. Dorn, of Kairnnga, farmer (Mr. Cooper) sought to recover from R. Purtn, of Palmerston North, taxi-driver (Mr. McLeavey), the sum of £3 4s as rent allegedly payable for a section, less 15s taxi hire. Judgment was for defondant, with £1 6s costs. A claim for the purchase price of three heifers was made by W. Jackson, of Fitzhcrbert West, farmer (Mr. Grant) against B. C. Waldegravc, of Palmerston North, stock dealer (Mr. Ongley). Judgment was given for plaintiff for £lB, with £4 2s costs.
