TRIANGULAR TOURNAMENT NEXT SATURDAY MANAWATU, WELLINGTON AND WANGANUI COMPETING A committee meeting of the 'Palmerston North Badminton Club was held on Monday evening. There wero present Messrs J. Kissling (chairman), P. G. Cope, J. Beckett, Mcsdames Dean and J. Roddcn and Mr J. T. N. Donald, bon. secretary. Correspondence was received from N. A. Poden (Wellington) and T. T. Harrison (Wanganui) regarding a triangular competition to bo held in Palmerston North nest Saturday evening Julyl. On the motion of the chairman it -was decided to hold single, double and mixed matches if time permitted, play to commence at 7 o’clock with freo admission to the public. Mrs Rodden w T as appointed conveyor of the ladies’ committee to undertake the supper arrangements. A letter was also received from the Wanganui Badminton Club to the effect of forming a West Coast Badmiuton Association and asking Palmerston North to send their views and to state whether they would be willing to affiliate with the Association. The district would include Manawatu, Rangitikei Wanganui and Taianald within its boundaries. After members had fully discussed the. subject, the secretary was instructed to write the Wanganui Club favouring tho idea, but asking for more information on the matter before committing themselves. On the motion of Mrs Cope it was decided to send an invitation to the Levin and Fcilding Clubs to take part in a series of games to be held next month. A vote of thanks was accorded Mr Parker, caretaker of the A. and P. Association Showgrounds, for having the hall prepared so soon after the show. The Visiting Bayers The W ellington players who will take part in the Wanganui tourney arc Messrs D. G. Prance, E. A. Rousscll, N. A. Eodcn, W. 11. Low, Mrs France, Miss Glover, Mrs Fodcn, Miss Chartres. The names of the Wanganui team arc not to hand. Accounts amounting to £24 Is 9d were passed for payment. Messrs France, Roussell, and Poden arc the well-known tennis players, and if they play badminton as well as they do tennis, then their games should bo worth seeing. The Palmerston North players are Messrs P. Cope, J. Beckett, J. Kissling, J. Barnett, J. T. McDonald, Miss M. Sim, Mrs Rodden, blisses B. Holmes, G. Vincent and P. Rodden.
