Rounding Up Bavarian Catholics ALLEGATIONS OF PROPAGANDA Received Tuesday, 10.30 p.m. LONDON, June 27. The Daily Mail’s Munich correspondent reports General Himmler, chief of the Bavarian police, as saying that a clean sweep of the People’s party (Catholic) is necessitated by searches proving that the party was co-operat-ing Avith Dr. Dollfuss and tho Austrian Heimwehr for the dissolution of the Austrian Nazis. He adds: “Similarly it has been discovered that political Catholicism is doing its utmost to sabotage Hitlerism and is, preparing a propaganda of socalled atrocities.” Herr Wagner, Minister, declares that jthe day of parties has ended and anyone attempting to form one would be (arrested. Following demands for the suppression of tho Bavarian People’s Party, their leader, a priest named Father Johann Seicht, was arrested while in bed at Bamberg. Many other Catholics and Socialists have been arrested for allegedly conducting subversive propaganda against rthe Government. Communists and Socialists to the number of 4.65 have been arrested in Prussia “for their own safety.” Party Leaders Also Arrested MUNICH, June 26. The People’s Party arrests number hundreds, including the leaders, Schaeffer, von Lex and Pfeiffer, also Prince won Wrcde and Baron Hirsch. Some who had been forewarned fled. The “Air Raid” and its Sequel Received Tuesday, 9.50 p.m. GENEVA, June 27. Tho League Secretariat has received over seventy protests from municipalities and privato persons in Germany against the so-called air raid, demanding that Germany bo treated on an equality with other countries regarding protection against air raids.
