Judge Took Him at His Own Valuation

AWARDED THREE EARTHINGS DAMAGES Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. Damages of three farthings were awarded Reginald Charles Boddie, sales organiser, of Wellington, by Mr. Justice Ostler in a reserved judgment delivered in the Supreme Court in the case in which Janies Dickson Sievwriglit, rotired journalist, Wellington, was sued for £2500 for alleged slander. His Honour said that he agreed with Boddie’s own estimate of his reputation—that he had nono to lose—and allowed him one farthing damages on each of the three causes of action upon which he had succeeded. Each party was left to pay its own costs. Judgment was also given in another action concerning the slander action and in addition other members of the “Chlorogene” syndicate in which Charles Boddie and his wife, Hilda Mary Boddie, sought a declaration of their right and an injunction, excluding certain persons from the “Chlorogene” business. His Honour said that both questions of law involved were answered in favour of plaintiffs. The question of costs would bo reserved. If the case could not be settled and a further hearing was necessary he was ready to fix an early date.
