CLAIMS FOR PROTECTIVE TARIFFS. Per Press Association WELLINGTON, June 26. The Tariff Commission continued its citting to-day. If. Green, director, Standard Engineering Company, Ltd., urged a 20 per cent, duty on English importations of clips, tags and rings for identifying live stock, poultry, fish and animals; and 35 per cent, rest of Empire duty and 45 per cent, foreign duty. He also sought a 20 per cent, tariff on .British metal working tools; and’ 35 per cent, rest of Empire and 45 per cent, foreign.
P. J. Lee, representing the D'uthie Steel Casement Company, Ltd., sought the retention of the present duty on steel windows.
E. A. Fountain, representing the Automatic Franking Mnohine Company, asked for an increase from 20 to 40 per cent, on imported franking machines, saying that his company was being undersold by British importations.
