Socal Functions

The Takaro hall eommmce held their usual fortnightly old-time dance this week. Thcro was an excellent programme of dances, and all present spent a jolly evening. Extras were played by Mrs. BarkwUh (piano) and Mr. Morris faceordeon), both being heartily encored. The floor was in iirst-class order and tho ladies’ committee provided a dainty supper. The two Monte Carlo waltzes were won by Mrs. Taylor and Mr, Hammond, and .Miss Cromb and Mr. Hollicr. Thcro was a professional orchestra in attendance, the music being highly commented upon. Rev. Mr. Zimmerman welcomed alt those present, and on behalf of tho church thanked all for their attendance. Mr. 0. Bovin carried out the duties of M.C. and dancing continued merrily till after midnight, tho singing of “Auld Lang Sync” and tho National Anthem bringing a very successful gathering to a close.

On Tuesday evening the committee held their usual weekly' euchre tournament. There was a fair attendance and rt happy evening ensued. The first prize for the ladies was won by Mrs. Needham, the second going to Mrs. Dimstan; the men’s first prize to Mr. Oilla cr l l and tho second Lo Mr. Cook. The ladies’ committee provided a dainty supper. To carry on those evenings the committco would like to see a larger attendance, in the future, to help them pay off tho hall debt.
