Obituary

MR. HENRY LEAT. A greatly respected resident of the Manawatu and Rangitikei districts, Mr. Henry Lent, passed away last week at the age of 77 years. The late Mr. J_,eat was born in Sidbury, Devonshire, England, and came to New Zealand in the ship Hudson 54 years ago. I'or 12 years he farmed in the Carnarvon district, when lie moved to Bandon block and continued farming operations there for 17 years and another nine years in tho Taranaki district. For tho past 13 years the late Mr. and Mrs. Lcat resided in Marton. There were seven children in the family, 24 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, tho members of the family living being John (Ohakuao), William (Marton), Mrs. Kendrick (Opunakc), Mrs. Osborne (Ohingaiti), Mrs. Maekie (Ohingaiti), Mrs. Button (Ohakuue). Ttie funeral took place at Marton on Bunday, a large cortege of mourners paying their last respects to a highly respected member of the community. Rev. D. B. Ashcroft conducted an impressive ceremony at the residence and at the graveside at Mount View cemetery.
