From Our Own Correspondent. Tho 500 party which, was held on Tuesday evening and attended by a good number of enthusiasts, resulted in Mrs J. W. Foot winning the ladios’ and Mr E. Morris tho men’s prizes. The latter, howevor, handed his trophy bach for further competition, and it was Anally won by Mr L. Franco. A commencement has been made by the Draughts Club with a championship and sealed handicap competition. Tho initial results are: H. Fenwick beat C. C. Youle, R. Hyndman; C. C. Youle beat R. Hyndman; T. Templeton beat H. Fenwick, A. Thompson;. R. R. Hyndman beat T. Templeton; Mrs B. Foot; F. A. Dunstall beat R. Hyndman, W. N. Brewer; T. Templeton, Mrs B. Foot drew with Mrs W. Hoskins and A. Thompson; A. Thompson beat Mrs B. Foot, Sirs W. Hoskins drew W. N. Brower. The following game, which created a lot of interest and was cleverly changed from a possiblo loss to an instant win, is well worth study by members of local clubs. Is there a draw for white after 0-10 is played? 11-15, 22-8, 15-22, 25-18, 12-10, 29-25, 9-13, 24-19 (if 18-14 black has strong game) 10-20, 28-2-4, 5-9, 25-22, 8-11, (10-14 hore would lose) 30-25, 10-14, 4-8, 19-10 (expecting 1-5), 0-10, -4-IJ, 20-24 27-20, 8-12 and if a draw remained white never found it.
