PERSONALITIES
The silver anniversary of his admission to the priesthood of the Koman Catholic Church, was celebrated yesterday by Monsignor Ormond, parish priest of St. Benedict’s Church Auckland. Ecv. G. T. Brown, M.A., who recently conducted a Presbytcrial visitation in tho Apiti charge, is exchanging with Ecv. A. F. Stuart, of Apiti, to-morrow. Mr. Brown will deliver the Prcsbytcrial “Finding” at the services iri Apiti, Kimbolton and Kiwitca. Guests at the Hotel Imperial, Palmerston North, are as follow: Mr. and Mrs. G. B. Laurence, Stratford; Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Sherrill, Gisborne; Messrs. E. 'D. and E. 11. Davis, Upper Hutt; Mr. and Mrs. G. Nicoll, Haleombc; Mr. Hooker, Hawcra. Tho death has occurred at Euatolci of Mahiti Maraki, who was reputed to be 100 years old. Deceased was very highly respected among the Maoris on account of tho faith-healing powers attributed to her. Until a yea rago Mahiti Maraki led a very active life, being in tho habit of riding 12 miles on horseback up the Whakatanc River valley to visit her relatives. She was tho wife of Tiakiwai, one of tho leading chiefs of tho Tuhoc tribe. Her husband died some years ago.
