Princess Alice Muriel Astor Obolensky, who obtained n divorce from her husband, Prince Serge Obolensky, a few months ago, was quietly married at Newark, New Jersey, in January, to Raimund von Hoffmann'stakl, an Austrian. The Princess is one of, tho richest women in the world. She is the daughter of Colonel J. J. Astor, who lost Ms life in the Titanic disaster in 1912. Raimund von Hoffmanustahl belongs to a famous Austrian family, the most celebrated of whom was Hugh von Hoffmannstahl, tho poet and dramatist, who wrote tho “Rose Cavalier. Princess Obolensky, whoso mother is now Lady Ribblosdalc, was vory wealthy before she was 21, and on coming of age she came into further fortune of £2,000,000. When she married Prince Obolensky in 1924 there were three ceremonies —one at tho Princes Row register office, one at- tho chapel of the Savoy, and one at the Russian Church in Buckingham Palace Road. A son was bom a year after tho wedding. Just before tho event the Princo and Princess bought from Earl Beatty "the most perfect house in London Hanover Lodge, Regent’s Park. For a time tboy lived six months of tho year in London and six in New York. .In both cities they gave parties which were tho talk of tho town. Prince Sergo Obolensky is one of the most romantic of the princely Russian exiles who have mado thoir home in England since the revolution.
