Low Price for Fat Cattle at Addington

OTHER SECTIONS SELL WELL Per Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. The only material change in values ruling at the weekly metropolitan market at Addington to-day as compared with last week occurred in the fat cattle section, in which a sharp decline in values occurred. The decline brought values to an unusually low level. With the exception of a slight easing for ewes of freezing weights in the fat sheep section, late rates were maintained generally in other departments. Store Sheep.—A heavy entry of both lambs and adult sheep, but the attendance of buyers was small. Passings were frequent, but the sales made were on a par with late Tate's. Tho range of values was: Good 2, 4 and 6-tooth Romney cross ewes to 12s 2d; extra good sound-mouth halfbred to 11s 3d; extra good G and S-tooth Romney cross to 11s 4d; good 6 and 8-tooth halfbred, ■lOs 5d to 10s 9d; extra good soundmouth Romney to 11s 6d; good 2 and 4-tooth halfbred wethers to 11s 7d; good 4 and 6-tooth halfbred to 10s; good sound and f.m. halfbred, 6s 6d to 7s 2d; forward m.s. lambs, 11s to 12s lOd; medium m.s., 9s 6d to 10s 9d; average, 7s Gd to 9s; culls, 5s to 6s 6d; medium halfbred wethers, 8s 4d to 9s. Pat Lambs.—An entry of 5200 head, with the West Coast represented by large consignments. Tho sale was steady at late rates, with exporters operating on schedule up to 51d a pound. IValues were: Extra prime heavy lambs, 17s Cd to 18s 7d; prime heavy, 16s to 17s 3d; primo medium, 13s 6d to 15s 6d; light, 11s to 12s Gd. Pat Sheep.—An entry of 4700 head. Ewes of freezing weight were easier than late rates by Is per head, but for all other grades it was a keen market and late rates were maintained. Values were: Extra prime heavy wethers to 21s Id; prime heavy, 16s 6d to ISs; medium-weight prime, 14s 6d to 16s; ordinary, 13s to 14s 3d; light, 10s 6d to 12s 6d; extra prime heavy ewes to 14s 6d; prime heavy, 16s to 13s Gd; medium-weight prime, 9s Gd to 11s 6d; ordinary, 8s to 9s; light, 6s to 7s 6d. Pat Cattle.—An entry of 465 of good average quality. For steers and heifers the decline was £1 to £1 103 per

head, and for cows tho decline was £1 10s per head for all except outstanding sorts. Extra good handy-weight beef made up to 20s per 1001 b; good steer and heifer beef, lGs to 19s; medium quality, 13s Gd to 15s 6d; good cow beef, 12s Gd to 14s; ordinary cow beef, 9s to 11s Gd; and rough down to 6s. Values were: Extra primo heavy steers to £9 17s 6d; primo heavy, £G to £8; primo medium-weight, £5 to £7; ordinary, £2 15s to £4 10s; light to £2 15s to £4 10s; light to £2 10s; extra primo heifers to £7 7s Gd; prime, £3 10s to £5 10s; medium, £2 5s to £3 30s; light, to £2 2s Gd; extra prime cows to £5 17s 6d; prime, £2 15s to £4; light and ordinary, £1 5s to £2 10s. Pat Pigs.—The entry was of medium size. There was better demand and values were: Choppers, 30s to £2 18s 6d; baconers, 32s to 48s; heavy, 43s Gd to 49s 6d; extra heavy to 53s Gd; average price per pound, 3d to 3sd; porkers, 18s Gd to 22s Gd; heavy, 24s Gd to 28s Gd; average price per pound, 34cL to 4}cJ
