Late Mr Edward Webster
The lato Mr. Edward Webster, who was drowned at Tangimoana beach on January 21, was born in Yorkshire in 1894 and sailed for New Zealand on board the Rangitira on January 9, 1914, arriving in February at Wellington. He journeyed to Palmerston North and took up his occupation as a farm hand with Air. A. G. Collins, of Awahuri, remaining with him for a period of 19 years of faithful service. He took a keen interest in the welfare of the district, and was always near at hand to render assistance when needed in connection with social matters. He was a conscientious farmer and ever willing to stand by his master in the time of need. Of more recent years he entered into partnership with Mr. Collins in a block of land purchased from the Johnson estate. In losing Mr. Webster under such circumstances Air. Collins has lost a valued friend.
