How Forgers Helped Greece's Finances

An epidemic of forged dollar notes has solved the Treasury’s pressing problem how to raise £1,000,000 and prevent default to foreign bondholders. The arrest of a gang of American forgers created the fear that other foreign currencies were also forged and investors hurriedly sold their holdings with tho result that tho Treasury in four days acquired sufficient currency to meet its obligations.
