Alison Skipworth As “The Sporting Widow”
Alison Skipworth continues on heT merry way at the Palace on Saturday in “The Sporting Widow.” Her performance is reminiscent of Marie Dressier at her best, and from the time that she is released from prison after a sentence imposed for swindling, she once again embarks on a criminal career and her escapades keep the audience interested throughout. Her characterisation is subtle'and entertaining as she brings all her art to bear to swindle her acquaintances. But the plot is given a unique twist when she engages in a battle of wits with another criminal to save the happiness of her daughter. There wiil be outstanding shorter films.
