"His Grace, the Marquess of Annandale,” he announced, reading the line from tho script at one of the first rehearsals, A member of Samuel Goldwyn’s staff heard the introduction. It sounded like a genuine name, not a movie invention. Ho quickly looked it up. There was a genuine Marquess of Annandale!
The sleuth hurried to tell Director King Vidor of his discovery, and in the interests of censorship complications in England, to beg him to delete it, or to change 'it to a fictitious name. Vidor was amused. He pointed out the player concerned, a recruit from the Central Casting Office as an English character player. "Ho is the Marquess of Annandalc. He voluntarily offered the use of his own family name, which, for the purpose, was far moie impressive than any that we could invent,” Vidor explained. So the line stayed.
Robert Armstrong has been signed for one of the major roles iu Paramount’s "The Billion Dollar Scandal,” which Harry Joe Brown will direct.
