British Car Sales
FIGURES FOR SIX MONTHS,
CONTINENTAL TRADE
Tho six months ended September of last year afford heartening sales figures for British car manufacturers with a total of 71,558, compared with 64,208 during the same period of the previous year. The manner in which economic conditions havo stimulated the demand for tho small horse-power car is reflected in the figures, which show that 36,239 cars up to 10 h.p. were sold in the 1932 period, an increase of 11,279 over the previous year. At the same time it is reported that there is still a good demand for the higher powered vehicles.
The expansion in the motor industry is certainly responsible for a large increase in employment in tho Birmingham area. Ono firm, for instance, with works at Coventry and Birmingham, are working day and night as the result of recent ordors for their new mortals booked at recent shows at Home am: on the Continent. At Brussels they
repeated tho success achieved at Copenhagen, the facility with which conversion from right to left hand steering
