Two Ceremonies Recently Celebrated

WHITEMAN—MORGAN

A wedding of con'siderablo interest to residents of Palmerston North and Tolcomaru was celebrated at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Palmerston North, on December 14, 1932. The contracting parties were Melvina Merle, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Morgan, of Palmerston North, and late of Tokomaru, and Eric Malcolm, second son of Mr. and Mrs. Whiteman, of Palmerston North. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Or. T. Brown and Miss J. Cresswell presided at the organ. The bride, who entered tho church with her father, wore a charming gown of ivory crepe de chine, which was fashioned with close-fitting bodice with a fully-flared ankle-length skirt, which fell in graceful folds. The beautiful embroidered tulle veil was caught to the head by a coronet of orango blossom and diamante, and she carried a sheaf of Christmas lilies, sweet peas and maiden-hair fern.

The bride was attended by two maids,. Miss Elsie Morgan (sister) and Miss Lena Todd. They wore pretty frocks of pink and green georgette respectively, the style chosen being closefitting, bodices and full-flared skirts of ankle-length, with coatees which had flared sleeves. They carried bouquets of pastel-shaded sweet pea's and maid on-hair fern.

The bridegroom was attended by Mr A. Whiteman (brother) ns best man and Mr. A. Simpson as groomsman.

Some sixty guests were later entertained at a reception held in the Orango Hall, where they were received by Mrs. Morgan, who wore a gown of navy crepe de chine, with hat to tone. Mrs. Whiteman chose a frock of navy, with fawn crepe de chine, and hat to tone. They both carried posies of red and white roses and asparagus fern.

The bridegroom’s gift, to the bridesmaids -were necklaces to match their frocks, and the bride’s gift to the bridegroom was a bronze, smoking companion. Mr. and Mrs. Eric Whiteman, who were the recipients of many beautiful gifts, left later for Wanganui; Their future home will be in Auckland, where the bridegroom and best man are members of the crew of H.M.S. Dunedin. KLINE—CARR. The wedding of Miss Beatrix Anne Carr,, .younger daughter of Mrs. J. Stuart and the late Mr. James Carr, and Mr. Gilbert Cornwall Klink, took place at St. Cutlibert’s Anglican Church, Pohangina, on the morning of Thursday, January 19, 1933. The bride was given away by her step-father, Mr. J. Stuart, whilo her sister, Mrs. C. Meads, was matron of honour. The duties of best man were carried out by Mr. R. Culling, a friend of the bridegroom. Afterwards the bridal party and relatives were entertained at luncheon at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Stuart. Later the young couple left for Otaki.
