Mr. and Mrs. W. B .King, Mangaorc Eoad, have returned from a .visit to Hawke’s Bay.

Mr. F. Mayne, of tho P.W.D., Hamilton, is renewing old acquaintances in Shannon.

Mr. B. Wilkinson and family returned from the Whakatano district during tho week-end.

Mrs. L. Dalziell left on Monday for a holiday in Plimmcrton. Mr. Kennedy of tho Bank of N.Z. staff loft for Wellington during the week-end on his annual leave.

Mr. and Mrs. White, Carterton, have been the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Blaikie, Ballanco Street.

Mrs. Montgomery, Auckland., is on a. visit to Mrs. Wisnofski, Plimmcr Terrace.

Mrs. Todd has returned from a visit to Auckland.

Mrs. Johnson, who has been, on a visit to Nelson, has returned home.

Mrs. Wisnofski returned from Papakura early last week. Mr and Mrs. C. Young, Vance Street, have been called to Christchurch, where Mr. Young’s father is seriously ill.

Mrs. I?, A. Richter of To Karaka, is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. ,T. S. Spencer, of Vogel Street. Mr. Bon Law, Ihakarn, has been elected chairman of the Buckley Drainage Board. The Shannon Cricket team registered another win on Saturday when they defeated Paraparauimi by a good, margin. Tennis. A further match of the Manawatu Tennis Association was played ou Saturday at Shannon, when Poston wero defeated by .11 sets to 5. In her first game for Shannon, Mrs Mark, was unfortunate to twist her ankle and her placo in the team was taken by Miss Angela Moynihan. The results were as follows, .Shannon being mentioned first:—

Men’s Singles: S. Graham lost to C. Proctor 8—10; A. Robinson lost to B. Gavin 7 —9; W. King defeated G. Bead 9—5; O. Tippler defeated B. Chrystall 9—o.

Ladies’ Singles: Mrs. E. Lang defeated Mrs. Ball 7 —l; Miss G. Brown defeated Miss Perreau B—C; Mrs C. Cronquest defeated Miss Thompson 7 —4; Miss A. Moynihan defeated Mrs Erucra 7 —5.

Men’s Doubles: Graham and Eobinson lost to Proctor and Gavin 5—9; King and Tippler defeated Bead and Chrystall 9—2. Ladies’ Doubles: Mrs Long and Miss Brown defeated Mrs Ball and Miss Pcrrcau 7—l; Mrs Cronquest and Miss Moynihan defeated Miss Thompson and Mrs. Erucra 7 —2.

Mixed Doubles: Graham and Miss Brown lost to Proctor and Mrs Ball, 7—9; Bobinson and M/s Long defeated Gavin and Miss Perreau 9—.3; King and Mrs Cronquest lost to Bead and Miss Thompson 8—10; Tippler and Miss Moynihan defeated Chrystall and Mrs Eruora 9 —3. Croquet. The following results are to hand in the matches for the Roach Brooch: Mrs Mason defeated Mrs Bovis 20—7; Mrs Mason defeated Mrs Brann 20 —11.
