Douro Cup Won By Aiguille

Per Press Association.

WELLINGTON, Last Night.

TJie Summer mooting of the Wellington Racing Club was continued at Trentham on Saturday in fine and Warm weather, After rain overnight and a cloudburst in the morning the track was soft to start with but improved as the day advanced. The attendance was large. Owing to dead heats there was an unprecedented Dominion record of five dividends in the first and last races. At the inquiry into the fall of La Poupee in the January Handicap, all sary Handicap the first day was concluded. The stewards expressed dissatisfaction with Barry’s handling of the horse, but as the evidence showed there had been interference, they gave him the benefit of the doubt. At the same time they administered a severe caution. An inquiry into the fall of La Poupee in the January Handicap, all evidence showed that the accident had been caused by the outside horses being squeezed in. It was algo made clear that this was caused by Hula Belle crossing over and the rider, L. J. Ellis, was suspended for 14 days. The stewards also expressed regret that such an experienced rider as R. Reed was unable to help them by his evidence. The straight out win pool handled £10,040 10s and the place machine £18,920, making a total of £28,960 10s.' Royal Bengal, who 'was third, was three lengths away, Gay Court was fourth and Shatter, Glenvanc and Ranclagh next. La Modcrne’s performance was ex-

ccptionally good. There is no doubt about her class. Arrow Lad ran. a fair race for a while. Martian Chief will still further improve. Glonvane should havo been in the money. La Poupcc fell six furlongs from home but neither she nor her rider (K. Voitro) was in-’ jured. The Nursery. In the Nursery Handicap Fracas led on to the course proper front Red Manfred, with Safari and Porotiti at the head of the others. Tout le Mond held his lead to the distance whore Red Sun looked like winning, but eventually had to be ridden out to beat Retract. Tout le Mond was a close third, Jaloux fourth, then Princess Argosy, Joie de Val, Concentrate, Royal Artist and My Own.
