Feilding Pipe Band
ANNUAL MEETING
There was a full attendance of members at the annual general meeting of the Feilding Caledonian Pipe Band held on Thursday evening when i> r. Geo. Bartholomew presided. During the year the band held 31 uniformed parades and 72 practices, with a splendid average attendance. The present total strength of the baud, including learners, is 20. The budget was balanced. Special votes of thanks were accoidcd to Mr. W. Hook for the free use of his sample room for the baud practices and to Mr. A. J. Geary, hen. auditor. Fivo new vice-presidents were elected, Messrs Hook, G. J. Eliott, D. O. Cullinane, D. Barrett and Ken Cameron, Bunnytliorpe, bringing the total strength of vice-presidents up to 20. The election of officers resulted as follows: President, Mr. Geo. Bartholomew; hon. secretary, Mr. E. H. Pike; hon. treasurer, Mr. A. E. Matheson; hou. auditor, Mr. A. J. Geary; pipe major, Mr. Pike; pipe sergeant, Mr. H. Butler; pipe corporal, Mr. L. Hopping; drum major, Mr. J. Black; drum sergeant, Mr. F. Poole; drum corporal, Mr. A. Lyne; custodian, Mr. F. Poole; executive committee, Messrs Bartholomew, Matheson, Pike, Poole, Butler and Donnell. Very complimentary remarks were made with regard to the big improvement of the playing of the pipers duiing the year just ended and of the popularity of the band with the townspeople in general. The band misses no opportunity to offer its services to playing out at many public functions gratis. Pipe Major Pike was also complimented upon his untiring efforts in coaching the learners, -who give promise of budding into first-class pipers. The usual vote of thanks to the chairman and officers terminated a meeting which was considered the best, in the history of the band.
