Christmas in Feilding
SHOPPERS BUSY IN THE RAIN LONG NIGHT TO-NIGHT After a fairly long .spell of warm, dry weather rain fell in Feilding yesterday afternoon and this gladdened the hearts of the fanning community who were becoming somewhat anxious about the want of pasture and crop moisture. Setting in at about noon steady warm rain fell throughout the afternoon but this did not prevent a large influx of visitors to the town and this preliminary shopping excursion was welcomed by the business community. Patronage at the quarters of Father Christmas by the younger members of the community was well rewarded and the youngsters did not hide their delight of the novelty.
For Christmas Eve Feilding is preparing for a crowded town and, with the streets festooned with brightly coloured lights, bands to kindle up the happiness, .shops to cater for every requirement and merrymakers to make the fun, the long night should not lack brightness.
Shoppers should remember that the shops will not reopen again until Wednesday next, so it will bo necessary to make adequate purchases to cover the closed period. The holiday fixtures for Feilding will include a bowling tournament which will be conducted oil the greens of the two local clubs, and the Onepuhi District Sports Club’s annual meeting to lie held on the banks of the Rangitikei river at Onepuhi.
