FARMER’S THREE CHILDREN PARENTS SAVE TWO BABIES VANCOUVER, Dec. 9. Awakened by smoke, James Nesbitt, an Edmonton district farmer, and hi? wife had just time to scizo their two babies and rush from the blazing farmhouse. The flames prevented them from dashing in again to rescue their four older children, a girl and three boys, who perished. Neighbours who saw tho fire also arrived too late to give any assistance, and Mrs. Nesbitt was seriously frostbitten on tho hands and feet before she could be carried to shelter. y

The Canadian prairies are experiencing a fierco winter. The thermometer lias dropped to 35 degrees below zero in the city of Winnipeg, and similar fearful temperatures have been recorded at Edmonton and Calgary.
